Hello, I'm
Teacher Colin
Butterfly Class
I’ve been working at MC for about eight months now since August 2024. I started teaching as Caterpillar teacher, and am now a co-teacher for the Butterfly class from April 2025. When it comes to teaching, I’m still figuring out the kind of teacher I want to be. But I know I want to be someone who makes learning fun for the kids, while also knowing when to set boundaries and follow the rules. I think it’s important to create a positive and balanced classroom environment.
ABOUT ME
I’m from Long Beach, California, U.S.A. I’ve been studying Japanese since high school and have the JLPT (Japanese Language Proficiency Test) N2 certificate. I can speak business-level Japanese and am a native English speaker.
Before coming to MC, I taught English in Kochi Prefecture. I learned a lot about teaching during my time there, but I especially came to appreciate the local culture. For example, I love yosakoi and have been an active member of the Kochi Yosakoi Ambassador KIZUNA International Team (高知よさこいアンバサダー絆国際チーム) since 2022.
