We went on an overnight field trip to Chichibu Furusato Village with the children and their families!
Day 1:
From the morning, the children were full of energy, eagerly greeting station staff on the train and showing excited faces as they began the journey. Once we arrived in Chichibu, we started with a unique lunch—nagashi somen! The children were thrilled as they caught the flowing noodles, making for some adorable moments.
After lunch, we challenged ourselves with fish catching! Though it was a bit tricky, the kids eventually caught some fish, feeling a sense of achievement with each successful catch.
On our way to the inn, the children discovered a chestnut tree and were fascinated by it. Being surrounded by nature led to many new discoveries. At the inn, we had a great time playing and then enjoyed a delicious BBQ dinner with the teachers. After eating to their hearts’ content, everyone was all smiles. We capped off the first day with a magical fireworks display, creating unforgettable memories.
Day 2:
We all said, “Thank you for the food. Let’s eat!” together and enjoyed breakfast before starting our second fun-filled day. After breakfast, we went to a field for sweet potato digging! Guided by a friendly farmer, the children enthusiastically dug up the potatoes.
Then it was time to make curry with our freshly harvested potatoes. Using bamboo tubes to cook rice over a fire, the kids cut vegetables and stirred the pot with serious dedication. The taste of the curry they made themselves was exceptional! Smiling and saying, “It’s delicious,” they thoroughly enjoyed their special lunch.
In the afternoon, we visited a goat farm, where the children gradually became more comfortable feeding the goats, despite a little initial nervousness. Over these two days, we shared countless new experiences and created many wonderful memories!
